Usability Testing

Primary Research

The research explored India’s tailoring industry to assess its state, understand perceptions, and examine why users prefer tailored over ready-made clothing, focusing on the experiences and frustrations of users and tailors.

The process began with affinity mapping to identify patterns, followed by a user flow chart to uncover knowledge gaps, leading to a two-phase questionnaire tested and refined for interviews and focus groups. Secondary research and surveys provided quantitative data, complementing qualitative insights and offering a comprehensive understanding of user needs.

Problem Discovery

Surveys and interviews revealed key challenges in the tailoring industry. Customers seek easier order personalization and tracking, while tailors want tools for better client management. Both groups showed strong interest in digital solutions, highlighting opportunities for innovation in this manual industry.

User Pain Points

Difficulty in finding skilled, affordable tailors nearby forces users to rely on distant, expensive shops.
Customers need to make multiple visits to tailors shops before receiving the final product.
Tailors recommended by older generations may not deliver modern designs as expected.
No proper system exists for storing customer data or measurements, leading to communication issues about order details.
Without a proper online platform, tailors struggle to expand their bussines beyond their immediate locality
The uncertainty of delivery timelines disrupts customer plans, especially for events or occasions.
